On May 13, 2003, Alan Hertz gave permission for shows to be hosted at the Archive:

Policy as of 2/2003
Big E Live Recording & Photography Policy
1. STILL PHOTOGRAPHY is permitted. Please contact big-e@x-group.net
before the show if you plan to take pictures.
2. FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY is not permitted.
3. VIDEO taping is not permitted.
4. AUDIENCE taping is permitted from a designated taping section that
will be venue-dependent.
5. SOUNDBOARD taping access is not permitted.
6. ONSTAGE taping access is permitted by prior consent of the band (see
below) only. Onstage tapers are expected to act in a courteous,
respectful manner at all times and should be present early to setup
prior to doors. A ticket for the show will still be required. Please
bring a copy of the "approval" email.
The following are the standard instructions for onstage taping are
meant to ensure that the interference with non-taping concert goers is
minimized and that the front row doesn't look like an engineering
convention.
A. Ensure as small a footprint as possible... This includes the size of
the mic capsules. Try to ensure your mics are no more that 2 feet high.
Please bring enough cabling to put your equipment off the stage to the
sides.
B. Tapers that desire onstage taping access are requested to submit the
following information (below) to the band via big-e@x-group.net to
obtain approval.
I. Specify the equipment to be used. - mics, pre-amps, and any other
technical information you feel might be pertinent. Any additional
information you might desire to provide, such as references or prior
history of taping Big E, or bands that have featured members of Big E.
C. Tapers that are approved for onstage taping are requested to:
I. Provide a copy of the recording made to the band.
II. Commit to distribute the recordings to the community at large as
well as to withhold distribution at the request of the band.
NOTE: Not all onstage requests can be accommodated, please be
respectful and understanding of the wishes of the band in this matter.
D. Patching out of onstage taping rigs will be approved on a
show-by-show basis depending on the space available and other
considerations.
E. Guest performances by other artists will be governed by that
artist's policy. When Big E is performing at a festival or other event
featuring multiple bands, that particular event's policies may override
Big E's customary recording policies.
Live recording and photography at Big E concerts is authorized for
personal, non-commercial use only. Unauthorized sale is strictly
forbidden. All Big E performances and/or public appearances thereof are
the exclusive property of Big E. All rights reserved.
